The first time I remember meeting Shawn was in the Moore field house at Southern CT State University. I would go in to the gym to shoot around or run pick up games, and like clock work, he was the FIRST one in the gym every single time. He would have his iPod in, talking to himself while doing a million different drills. This was not somebody shooting around leisurely; he had a maniacal obsession with perfecting every aspect of his game. I guess it’s a microcosm for Shawn in general – he is NEVER satisfied, and will go through hell and back to perfect every aspect of a particular thing. Mediocrity has never been an option. Whether it’s meeting with teachers over and over again til he got an assignment right or doing the same basketball drill a million times til he had it down pat, this man is absolutely relentless.

I’ve never met someone with such drive and determination, and after I got to know him, his positive attitude towards life and contagious enthusiasm began to rub off on me. I called him 6 weeks into beginning law school telling him that I just couldn’t do it anymore. He refused to let me give up, and believed in me when even I no longer believed in myself. That conversation inspired me, and played a role in me graduating law school this May. With Shawn, there’s no B.S. What you see is what you get, and as they say in Italian, he has “il cuore di leone” (The heart of a lion)

Hey, there! My name is Michael Ferrari, I’ve been friends with Shawn since middle-school, and currently I’m his graphic artist/web designer. A few things about Shawn, he’s genuine, he’s hardworking, and he gets results. The picture to the left doesn’t properly convey the changes I’ve gone through in the past few years. That is because before training, I was too embarassed to take pictures of myself. On the left, I am a whopping 235lbs. Needless to say, I was unhappy with myself.

On the right, after training, I weighed in at 190lbs! I was shedding fat left and right, toning up, and seeing big gains in my lifting numbers, and cardiovascular results. I went from an 11 minute mile, to a 7 minute mile in just one month of training. I am now down to 175lbs, continue to get stronger, faster, and most important, happier.

I can’t stress it enough, Shawn Mobilio is your man. When it comes to the website, Shawn tells me to let my creative juices loose, and do what comes naturally to me. That’s where the slogan on the front comes from, my honest to goodness opinion of Shawn. He will make you WHO YOU WERE BORN TO BE.

About

Shawn Mobilio was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1987 and has had a lifelong passion for fitness and basketball. He began playing basketball at the early age of seven at the Boys and Girls Club in Bridgeport, then Amateur Athletic Union(AAU) Basketball with the Naugatuck Valley Stars where he was starting point guard and captain. He went on to play starting point guard on the Junior Varsity (JV) team at Naugatuck High School, where he averaged 17 points and 5 assists per game and was quickly promoted to Varsity the same year. He spent the remainder of his high school career at Seymour High School, and in his last year was named senior captain, averaging 19 points and 7 assists per game.

After high school, he trained to become an amateur boxer with the Naugatuck YMCA, Bridgeport Pal, and then with John Spehar, a former Golden Glove finalist boxer, chief clinician for USA Boxing CT, and a 5th degree black belt. Under Spehar, Shawn won his first amateur fight and was undefeated.

He returned to basketball in college, walking onto the Division II team at Southern Connecticut State University as a red shirt freshman. He then transferred to Division III Western Connecticut State University as a sophomore where he played minimal minutes as a sophomore and junior but fought his way senior year to starting point guard and co-captain. Among his many accomplishments, he led the Little East Conference (LEC) in assists and was the first member of his family to graduate college.
After graduating college in 2013 with his Bachelors in Communications, he tried out for the U.S.A. Select International Tour Team, managed by Sean Kilmartin, AAU Director of Men’s Basketball. He competed against 400 other Division I and II basketball players to be selected as one of 38 players to join the team touring Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and London.

He obtained his Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFFA) personal training certification in 2012 and has worked for corporate and private gyms and as a private in home trainer.

Most recently after working as a personal trainer at L.A. Fitness, he was inspired to take the next step and open his own business where he could pursue his own vision. He continues to maintain his affiliation with U.S.A. Select Team as a player/coach where he plans to assist in player recruitment and training camps. He is thankful that he has been able to maintain his many passions including basketball, fitness, and boxing.

Basketball

We will work on your skills and technique, as well as discuss the fundamentals behind being a game changing player.

Defense

Self-defense is a priceless skill in today’s world! I will teach you how to defend yourself in one-on-one situations. This includes training for having to deal with real life dangers. With today’s crazy stories about people getting injuried and hurt, these tactics will help you defend yourself so you are ready for any challenge. I offer boxing, kickboxing, and self defense. Dont be bullied, learn to defend yourself the proper way!

I did East Coast Tae kwon do Karate, USA boxing, USA Select basketball, Football and cross country in high school. With a long athletic history, including boxing and self-defense training, I can’t wait to pass the endless knowledge I have acquired on to you, giving you both peace of mind, and the means to ensure you can defend yourself should the need arise.
